GERBER GOOD START Gentle Powder is made with key nutrients found in breastmilk to provide complete nutrition for your growing baby. This formula has the iron that babies need and contains easy-to-digest proteins. Fatty acids DHA and ARA promote healthy brain and eye development, and prebiotics support digestive health. GERBER GOOD START Gentle Powder is suitable for feeding babies from birth up to 12 months.

COMFORT PROTEINS Are Easy on Your Baby's Tummy

Only GERBER GOOD START infant formulas start with 100 percent whey protein, the highest-quality protein available in infant formula. These proteins are partially broken down into smaller pieces and are easy for your baby to digest.

May Provide Protective Benefits

GOOD START Gentle Formula is made with 100 percent whey proteins that are partially hydrolyzed.

For healthy infants who are not exclusively breastfed and who have a family history of allergy, feeding 100 percent whey-protein partially hydrolyzed infant formula from birth up to 4 months of age instead of a formula containing intact cow's milk proteins may reduce the risk of developing atopic dermatitis during the first year of life. The FDA has concluded that the relationship between 100 percent whey-protein partially hydrolyzed infant formulas and the reduced risk of atopic dermatitis is uncertain, because there is little scientific evidence for the relationship.

Partially hydrolyzed formulas should not be fed to infants who are allergic to milk or infants with existing milk allergy symptoms. If you suspect your baby is already allergic to milk, or if your baby is on a special formula for the treatment of allergy, your baby's care and feeding choices should be under a doctor's supervision.

DHA and ARA for Healthy Brain and Eyes

GOOD START Gentle Powder includes DHA and ARA, two fatty acids, or lipids, that are found naturally in breastmilk and which support healthy development of brain and eye tissues. This formula also has a blend of antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E as well as zinc to support a strong immune system.

Prebiotic Fiber for Digestive Health

This formula includes prebiotic Galactooligosaccharides (GOS). This prebiotic fiber is naturally occurring in breastmilk and can help support a baby's digestive health.

Convenient Powder - Just Add Water

This powder comes in an EasyScoop plastic container that makes it easy to mix exactly the amount you need with no mess or waste. Simply add water according to the package directions, and you're ready to feed.

From Younger Formula to Older Baby and Toddler Formula

GOOD START Gentle Powder provides the nutrients babies need from birth to 12 months. The AAP recommends avoiding cow's milk as a beverage until your baby is at least one year old. Cow's milk doesn't have the proper balance of nutrients - such as the level of iron - your baby needs for growth and development. After one year, older baby and toddler formulas are a nutritious choice for babies who may not be eating a balanced diet. These formulas as designed to provide extra nutrition assurance for babies nine to 24 months old.

Finally 1st ingredient IS NOT corn syrup!

Dec. 4, 2011

We tried several formulas. At first we went with Similac Sensitive, which worked well for our baby's gassy tummy. With all the coupons for Similace we found it cheaper but after talking with my pediatrician we finally decided to look at the ingredients on the back of the container. Both Similac and Enfamil list corn syrup as their number one ingredient. Only Gerber Goodstart has real ingredients and it is the only formula I will trust for my little one.

The only formula my breastfed baby would take!

Feb. 16, 2013

My husband and I have a philosophy with my older son that if we won't eat it, then we won't force him too. With the new baby we took a similar approach. My daughter was exclusively breastfed for her first 6 months, but then I was unable to supply enough for her growing needs so we needed to supplement. We tried all the name brands beginning with the organics because that is what we prefer...Earth's Best, Similac, then Enfamil...they all smelled terrible and tasted worse! The baby wouldn't drink any of them, not that I blame her because I certainly wouldn't. Finally I tried Gerber Good Start and the smell was significantly more tolerable and amazingly enough she will drink it! I would recommend this formula to anybody having difficulty getting their breastfed baby to take anything else.

My baby loves Gerber gentle

Dec. 29, 2013

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to breastfeed my second child. That's why we ended up buying expensive baby formula! I had given my first born Similac Organic in the first 2 weeks because she had Breastmilk jaundice, and she loved it. So I thought I would use the same brand again for my second child, however he didn't like it at all!!!We received a free try-me package at the doctors office which had the Gerber Gentle in it. So we tried it and my little boy stopped having a bloated belly which also took care of the constant crying! We have used Gerber Gentle for 6 months with no issues. I subscribed the Value pack through amazon which saved me some money and it lasted exactly 1 month for us.

After trying all....

Dec. 13, 2013

Tried all different formula's for my daughter, had sever reflux with all of them. Once we started using this she never had reflux again. For my son we din't even try other, directly started good start gentle, he dint like at the beginning but now go used to it. No reflux issues with this for him too.

Love the smell

May 7, 2013

I bought this brand cause I got absolutely sick of the smell of the stuff we were previously using. The Gerber smell is much more soft and natural, not all chemical and in your face. Thumbs up for it!

Happy Bellies

Sept. 23, 2013

When I stopped pumping, I had my twins on Baby's Only and they were terribly constipated. Gerber Good Start has maltodextrin as its sweetener (still from corn, but not corn syrup), does not constipate, does not smell bad, mixes well, and tastes like almond milk.

Perfect for my breastfed child when I'm away and unable to pump. Closest substitute for breast milk. Use nursery water, NOT regular water unless you boil it.

Great for digestion

Jan. 14, 2014

Gerber breaks down the milk proteins differently than Similac and has fixed my daughter's constipation problems once I stopped breast feeding. Similac had her soooo backed up it was painful. Also, if you use Subsribe and Save it is cheaper than any grocery store!

After trying the other well known brands that did not work, Gerber finally worked!!

Dec. 28, 2013

My baby was exclusively breast fed for the first 7 months. I was no longer able to breastfeed and had to transition to using formula. Tried enfamil, similiac, similac sensitive, enfamil ready made nothing worked. She either would not take it, or if she did an hour later she was throwing up. After doing a lot of research I decided to try the gerber formula. So far she has been on it for about a week and she's taking it with no issues and everything is well. Gerber was a lifesaver for me, I definitely recommend this product. Amazon by far has the lowest price on this when you get it as a amazon mom member with subscribe and save. Will be buying this monthly.

Good formula

Aug. 15, 2011

Since I wasn't able to breastfeed, I wanted to give my baby the next best thing: the best formula with the best ingredients. The pediatrician recommended Good Start and the baby likes it. We had started using Enfamil Gentlease because our baby had gas, but I found out that the first ingredient for that product is corn syrup (!!). Gerber Good Start seems to have a much better ingredient list.

Gentle on my LO tummy

Aug. 8, 2013

My son is now 2 months old. He first drank Enfamil Newborn nursette bottles for 3 weeks and did fine. We ran out and continued with Enfamil infant formula. It gave him bad gas pain, I never look forward to feeding him because he was miserable and fussy. Thinking maybe his tummy wasn't ready for the infant formula, we went back to the newborn formula but in powder form. Wrong! He was still having pains and fight to pass gas. So I did some research on 'gentle' formulas. There is Similac Sensitive, Enfamil Gentlease and Good Start Gentle. Similac and Enfamil has corn syrup as the first ingredient!! No way I was going to feed him those. So he is now on Good Start Gentle and let me tell you, he never fuss and he likes feeding time now! My only gripe about the powder is that it does not mix well. I could care less because my LO is a different baby after switching. Thank You Good Start!!

well, the baby would drink this one

June 4, 2013

We sampled Similac and Enfamil formulas before finding that Gerber Goodstart Gentle was the one our baby would actually drink. We only used it after six months. Also, it smells the least disgusting of all the formulas that we tried. Honestly, baby formula smells rancid in general.Cost-wise, when Amazon would run a coupon on top of their typical discounts, then I would buy it here. Otherwise, Babies R Us sells a two-pack for around 37 bucks, which was almost always a better deal.

The only non-corn syrup formula that worked, but it's cheaper at Target

Sept. 9, 2012

Our newborn had a lot of gas issues. We tried regular Similac and Enfamil and they didn't seem to help his gas. The other companies made "gentle" formulas because many had corn syrup as the first ingredient. Gerber gentle does not.Our pediatrician suggested a soy based formula so we tried Gerber Soy. But that constipated him terribly. Finally we found Gerber Good Start Gentle. It seemed to help his gas and also didn't constipate it. At 8 months old now, he still is taking it without any problems. We buy the ready to feed formula for on the go convenience (same ingredients as the powdered kind). The only reason that I'm not giving it 4 stars is that I've been buying it religiously on Amazon due to the convenience. The other day I went to Target and I realized the Amazon price is $4 higher than Target ($3 higher if you use Subscribe and Save). Too bad, but I guess it's my fault for not comparison shopping.

BY FAR THE BEST

March 5, 2012

Gerber Good Start was recommended to me by a lactation consultant. It's by far the best. No constipation, less gas (the gas that he does have is probably from the bottle not the formula) and it doesn't smell nasty, even when it comes back up, which isn't that often. I highly recommend this product. It's worth the extra money. Also, Amazon subscribe and save has the best pricing. I live in a rural community and the nearest store is 30 minutes away. So for me it's more cost effective to have it delivered to my door.

Real Organics or GMO's ???

Dec. 2, 2013

I had a hard time finding a formula my baby likes and finally we tried this and she did great with it. HOWEVER - I recently found out that Gerber was against a bill that would require food corporations to put on their labels that the ingredients may include GMO's.Ummm... sorry but I am not putting genetically modified food into my kids mouth. So, I have stopped purchasing ALL gerber products as well as MANY well known brands because they have paid hundreds of thousands of dollars against this bill so they don't have to tell people their products are not natural, but genetically altered and created in a lab...But hey, if you don't care about that kind of stuff then go with Gerber or Similac and all the other. I use Earth's Best now and will never turn back. =)

Oct. 21, 2013

My baby loves this formula. He was on Similac Sensitive in the hospital and for a few weeks after I brought him home. Similac Sensitive gave my baby awful gas and stomach aches. After searching around, I decided to switch to this formula. It works wonders. I HIGHLY suggest you buy the Dr. Brown's Formula Mixing Pitcher to get rid of all the air bubbles.

Great for sensitive tummies

Oct. 8, 2013

When my little one was only a couple weeks old, I was forced to get a formula to start supplementing my breastmilk. At the time, I thought most formulas were pretty much the same. I was way wrong. We started him out with Enfamil, which made him scream with such bad stomach pains and gas. Figuring that his belly was a little sensitive, we switched to the Enfamil Gentlease. If anything, his gas became worse. When looking for another formula to try, I saw this one with the 'comfort proteins' which are essentially just milk proteins that are already partially broken down so easier to digest than regular ones. This makes this formula a little bit more similar to breastmilk than some of the other ones. Note: I am not saying this formula is just as good as breastmilk. Nothing is. But the digestibility of this formula is very close. My son's gas instantly improved. It wasn't a total fix, he had problems with colic even on the breastmilk, but the problems were no worse using this formula, unlike with the others. When he outgrew his colic at 3 months, we kept him on this formula and at about 6 months this was all he was getting in his bottle. We didn't have any problems with lumps, even when we mixed it with cold water and he seemed to like the taste of it. In fact when he reached about 10 months old we simply bumped him up to the toddler version of this formula. We have recommended this formula to friends and number of times, especially since you can get it on Amazon's subscribe and save program.

Gerber knows what they are doing!

Aug. 4, 2013

We tried other brands, even with soy, and nothing settled right with her. Pediatrician said she might be lactose intolerant. Nope. I gave this a try and success! I did try all her formulas (We always like to taste what we are feeding her.) and others were gross. This one is light and sweet. We are on 1st foods now from Gerber and she loves them. :)

Easy Transition

Feb. 16, 2013

When I had to stop breast feeding my 3 week old and choose a formula, I read all the amazon reviews hoping there would be an obvious clear cut choice. Not the case. If it worked for your baby, it worked. If it didn't, it didn't. The reason I choose to start with Gerber Good Start Gentile over other sensitive formulas is because of the ingredients. The first ingredient isn't sugar. Fortunately, it worked for us! 4 stars, because it's pricey.

Best Formula for sensitive GI systems

Dec. 31, 2012

I used this formula with my first child (now 3 1/2 yrs old) after going through 4 different brands. She would throw up, get constipated and very gassy with all the other formulas on the market. After dealing out tons of money on different brands and numerous doctors visits the nurse suggested Gerber. It was unfortunately the most expensive out there but man did it not work!My daughter took the formula right away and within a few days she was going the bathroom normally and the gas cut down. She no longer threw up and was able to use Gerber Gentle and Gentle 2 throughout her toddler years.I am using Gerber Good Start again with my now 3 month old. I have been using it since day 1 and we have had none of the same issues that we had with my daughter. He never throws up the formula and has regular stools. My son does have gas but the doctor said he has a sensitive GI system and would start to pass, which it has. He has been having less and less gas now that we are in our 3rd month. After reading review of other formulas I was curious why this one seemed to work and when I read the ingredients of the other formulas I think I know why. Several of the top brands that even the hospitals suggest the first first or second ingredient is Corn Syrup. Not only did I not want to feed my kid sugar but what I have been told from our pediatrician is that the reason that it is so high on the list of ingredients is that the baby's GI systems do not use it so it passes fast. Meaning the stools are easier passed. For some reason this never happened with my first child and I hear now that some kids it works some don't. So I am glad to say that Gerber does not have Corn Syrup in the top 5 ingredients in the formula. I am sure its in there but not that high up.The formula itself is like any other, simple to use and comes in a handy storable container.I signed up for Amazon Mom and receive the formula a few times a month. I highly suggest this program to any mother using Gerber as Amazon beats the prices of any retailer I have found (since Costco does not carry this brand).

Gentle on the stomach .. like its name

Nov. 4, 2011

We have a 3 1/2 month old baby who is a preemie. He was given pre-made Enfamil in the hospital so we bought the powdered version home once he was discharged. After going through several cans we discovered that the reason our baby would cry and have pain and gas troubles was the formula. So we tried the Gentlease version of Enfamil and while that was better it didnt really solve the problem. After which we tried the Good Start Protect (this used to be Nestle carnation when some of my friends whose kids are now 7 years old had used it) That was a MAJOR improvement but when we tried the GoodStart Gentle we knew we had found what suited the baby best. He still spits up often but has no pain even when he has gas troubles. I would certainly recommend this to try as an option for a baby that is crying and colicy - it did take 7 to 10 days for us to see the effect of the new formula but we were told to expect that much time when changing from one formula to another.

Our little guy seems to like this best

Aug. 23, 2011

We started out with some other brands (given all the samples from the hospital and our doctor), but ended up going with Good Start after a recommendation from our pediatrician. Our guy doesn't seem to get gas too often and he's been progresing good at his checkups. The only thing about this container I'm not a fan of is when you get to the bottom of the formula, it's hard to get the last little bit in the scoop, and if you want to transfer to the next can, the left-overs can get caught under the lip. Minor annoyance, but it's really the only thing I can comment on since I can't really speak to the nutritional aspects of the product with authority.

Formula review

Feb. 6, 2012

My wife breastfed for 6 months before we had to make the switch to formula. It was a long painful decision for her especially since she is an RN on postpartum but she decided on Gerber Good Start. We have used it for 3 months now and our baby has had no issues with it. My one issue with the formula is it is hard to mix without any clumps, even after shaking and heating up for several minutes. I hear many complaints about the price but if you factor in tax at the store and the convenience of Amazon I will stick with Amazon.

Really works in reducing gas

June 2, 2013

Like a lot of other people who reviewed this product, I was having trouble with an extremely gassy and unhappy baby. I had tried every other formula, Similac Advanced, Sensitive, Enfaily Newborn, Gentlease and then someone mentioned Gerber Good Start. Originally I tried Soothe but that made my baby slightly constipated. Moved onto Gentle and voila! Happy baby. There are a few things against it.1. It does not mix well. We put a little boiling water in, mix with a spoon then finish off with cold water and then we have to shake the bottle a lot to clear out all the lumps.2. It clogs the bottle nipple (see above)3. It does not smell like vanilla. Those people who say that it smells like vanilla have never smelt vanilla before. It smells like powdered milk. This leads me to the things that are good about it.1. It has milk protein as it's largest ingredient while corn syrup is number three. This is the only formula I know that has this, and that may be why it is gentle on the babies tummy.2. Baby loves itEnjoy!

After losing weight, my daughter started this formula and she started gaining weight and growing leaps and bounds with almost no gas or other digestive problems.

Improved our lives!

Nov. 22, 2012

This is not an Amazon verified review, we bought ours at Target. Some things can't wait, even Amazon's speedy delivery can't be fast enough for baby crying hysterically.I was a big skeptic! I used to think all these companies are the same aren't they? They use virtually the same ingredients, maybe they'll change it a little and then call it a different name, just like soda pop companies. How many colas are out there? And don't they all virtually taste the same? But I guess babies are so sensitive, that even the slightest change in ingredients can change the quality of life for your baby and yourselves, the parents. Our baby left the hospital being used to enfamil premium newborn ready to use. So we continued with the ready to use, but he got fussier as the weeks went by. We then switched to the powder version cause the ready to use was too expensive, of course he was still fussy, and then we started to experience frantic feeding. Then our doctor suggested enfamil gentlease. It did not help, and the frantic feeding seem to have gotten worse. The spit ups were painful and the baby would get sticky cause gentlease is very sticky, probably due to the corn syrup ingredient? My baby would always wake up crying and seemingly in pain. After reading the reviews here, but understanding that all babies are different, I went ahead and tried Gerber Good Start Gentle with low expectations. The first time we gave it to him was around 11pm at night. The feeding went well, but I was being cautiously optimistic, so I didn't put much clout in it. Then something else happened, he slept till 4am in the morning! Our baby is 6 weeks old and sleeps at most 3 hours. During these 5 hours, there was the usually toss, turn, squirm, grunt, etc. but instead of waking up like he usually does, he would be able to get back into deep sleep. Well, I still remained cautiously optimistic until I see whether or not the frantic feeding has stopped. Man, I tell you we have experience major improvement in our feeding sessions! No more frantic feeding. Frantic feeding is like this.... I feed him yet he cries like he's in pain, If I stop feeding him, he cries cause he's hungry, so then I try again to feed him and he would be frantically sucking because he thinks the formula will make him feel better, but it does not, he's still in pain and crying hysterically, you try to burp him and nothing is popping... It is terrible to see your baby go through that. Ever since we switched to Gerber, we have yet to have one of these frantic feeding episodes, knock on wood!!! This is not a miracle, my baby will still spit up, colic at times, etc. But the difference now is that, it's just the normal cycles of crying, there is no pain. I used to see pain in his face when he would spit up, but now, he quietly spits up. There is no pain!! He would go about doing his cute baby faces, and then oops, formula would come out. After two weeks, I'm no longer cautiously optimistic, I'm now SOLD. This is our formula here on out and we've "subscribed and save" on Amazon. Like people say, not all babies are the same, but if you've got a baby struggling, then try it. The Gerber ingredients just might agree with your baby like it does with ours.Thank you Gerber! And good luck to all the new parents out there!

Only Formula We Used

Oct. 30, 2013

We started our baby on formula at around 10 months old. I wanted to make it to one year nursing, but it just wasn't happening. I researched several different brands of formula and landed on Gerber Good Start Gentle. Our baby always had lots of gas issues, so we thought gentle was the way to go. Also, sugar wasn't included in the first couple ingredients (I was shocked when I saw how many gentle formulas had so much sugar). The transition from breast milk to this formula was relatively easy. He didn't have any noticeable discomfort. He also seemed to really like the taste.

Perfect for Sensitive Stomach

Nov. 9, 2012

This is the only formula that my baby can take without any issues. We've tried all the Enfamil varieties including Gentlease and every Similac including Sensitive...all had a negative effect on our baby. He would be very gassy, get rash, and/or get constipation. None of these popular brands were working and a friend with older children said she experienced the same issues when her children were infants. She said the only formula that they could take was Good Start. We tired it and all the ailments we had with the other brands did not happen with Good Start. In fact, his eczema and rashes went away too. I wasn't sure if this was a coincident so I tested it out and gave him Gentlease again. And sure enough, he broke out in a rash and was gassy. That being said, we're sticking to Good Start.I don't see many coupons for this as I do with Enfamil and Similac but the deal offered by Amazon Mom and the Subscribe-and-Save seem to be the best deal out there. Occasionally Babies-R-Us will have a good sale on it but the difference is not significant enough for me to go out to the store to get it. For a few cents more, I can have the formula delivered to my door on a monthly basis and not have to deal with the crazy people and poor customer service in the store.I recommend this product for babies who have had issues with the other brands AND I recommend getting this through Amazon Mom.

Best for baby's digestive system

Nov. 29, 2011

We switched to Gerber Good Start Gentle after trying several other brands of formula. This was the only brand that did not give her constipation. It also seemed to fill her up better. Unfortunately she developed a milk allergy (unrelated to this formula) and we had to switch to her a soy formula. The container is not particularly user friendly. The foil on top is difficult to remove, especially with a hungry crying baby in the background. The curves in the container also make it nearly impossible to scoop out the last of the formula. On the plus side, you don't have to go searching for the scoop and there is a handy place to store the scoop.

Gerber *Best* Start

Nov. 16, 2011

We've used this formula for both our kids (recommended by lactation consultant) and never had any issues with spit-up, gassiness, etc. Formula in general doesn't smell that great, but this smells less formula-y than others and seems (anecdotally, at least, from other parents) to be tolerated pretty well. Minor detail, but I like that the packaging is an all-plastic container that you can recycle when empty (as opposed to throwing away the cardboard/tin containers).I like using a food scale to measure out the formula. The directions say one scoop (8.9g) per 2 oz, but I found that a full scoop frequently weighs more like 10g. Not a big deal if you only make 2 or 4 oz, but when I make 8 oz bottles, I prefer having a more accurate measure. And btw, if you use formula frequently, this has been absolutely indispensable for us - it makes life so much easier!Munchkin Powdered Formula Dispenser, Colors May Vary

More Expensive, Less Formula

April 24, 2011

Great move for Gerber, more efficient crating design, flashy packaging, less product, higher price. Too bad for you if your baby is already hooked on Gerber Good Start. At least the instructions have been made clearer. The old instructions were to use a scoop to make 2 oz of formula, leaving you to guess how much water there was in 2 oz of formula. Now it clearly says one scoop with 2 oz water.Baby loves the stuff though, never had constipation or obnoxious gas. It makes her grow!

Gerber Good Start

worked for my kids-helped with constipation

Dec. 11, 2013

I have three kids and this formula, for whatever reason, has worked best for two of the three. Both had constipation issues and, when I started using Good Start, things got a *little* better for the babies. It could have been that I started using the formula when their digestive systems started to mature a little bit, but I do think this particular formula helped the cause. I have tried many formulas and I think that some work better based on the individual baby. But this one happened to work for my kids. Can't hurt to give it a try if constipation is an issue.

Love the Price

Oct. 17, 2013

I had to switch to this formula because my little one refused to latch and she also had pretty bad reflux so I needed something gentle on her tummy (I tried Similac and Enfamil prior which didn't seem to help a whole lot). I read the reviews and this seemed like a good one. She still throws up occasionally but for the most part, this one seemed to help, and the price is ridiculously cheap for a 4 pack ($88), so I think this is a pretty great buy - I have it ordered on subscription to receive it monthly.

Switched from Enfamil Gentlease to Gerber

Sept. 22, 2013

We kept getting coupons for Gerber, but didn't use them because our 7 month old was on Enfamil Gentlease. We decided to give this a try because Enfamil is so expensive. My son has responded well to this new brand. To my surprise, he is more "regular" and doesn't seem to strain as much when going #2. It's cheaper, and my son likes it better, I think that's a good reason to switch permanently!

Works Great for sensitive babies

Sept. 18, 2013

This works great for babies that are not colicy but just generally sensitive and spit up at normal formula. This will help a baby that has trouble with normal formula and its good for babies that have been solely breast fed and are transitioning to formula.

Sleep at LAST!!!

Sept. 14, 2013

My baby boy was born premature so my milk came in too little too late! They started him on similac at the hospital and he was miserable!!! When we took him home what was supposed to be joy became pity! Every time we fed him he cried for 30 minutes! His lips were purple and his poop was dark (dark green/black) come to find out he was being bombarded with iron from the similac advance! ... Advanced pain if you ask me! Well long story short we could take it anymore! He looked weird and unhappy so we told our pediatrician we were gonna change it! Bottom line! And she gave us emfamil... And we demanded gerber good start! Since i had done my research! And giving him emfamil would be just like similac! Different name same stuff! basically same difference! So we changed him to good start .... First day was horrible he cried a lot because he was getting all that similac junk out of his system and second day VOILA!!!! He was a different baby! Right lip coloration, and golden poop! Exactly like my friends baby who was being breast fed! So I say to you parents! Fight for your babys well being and comfort! Their happiness is yours! And did I mention I get 5 hrs of sleep now instead of 3?! And hes only 1 month and a half?! After 5 hours we wake him and he eats 5oz. Who would have thought this was my fragile preemie?! Anyways ... Please consider this formula! Its the best!

Great Product, OK price

May 14, 2013

This is our formula of choice for our son. As advertised it is gentle on his stomach, and he hasn't had any adverse effects from it. The container closes with a satisfying click letting me know that it has been completely closed, and I like the built in 'handle' that allows me to get a nice hold on it.The only downside is the price. It's the same price as formula I can buy in any brick and mortar store, and even then I can get it cheaper due to coupons. The only upside I can see from purchasing it from Amazon is the convenience of having it automatically shipped to your house.

My little one had a problem with the similac advance (too much gas/stomach pain), and I didn't want to switch her to a formula with corn syrup as the first ingredient (enfamil gentlease and similac sensitive) so I tried the Gerber good start gentle. She likes the taste of it just fine and we haven't had the gas problems we had when we tried the similac advance.I would recommend this formula if your baby is having a difficult time digesting other formulas.

Better than Enfamil or Similac

Dec. 27, 2012

I was forced to supplement so I started our little guy on Enfamil gentlease, which is supposed to be for fussiness and gas. He was neither but I figured it would be preventative measures. He was gassy, constipated and fussy on Enfamil. As soon as I switched him to Gerber, all of that cleared up. It also is much less smelly, going in and coming out! :)

It's a keeper!

Oct. 14, 2012

My third child has been constipated and gassy with breastmilk, Similac (regular and the gas-relief formula), Enfamil (regular and the Gentlease), and the Gerber Good Start Protect. we've been giving him gas relief drops like crazy, and adding prune juice to everything else - which has produced BMs - but they're crazy explosive (painful!) ones. This is the only milk/formula that helps baby comfortably poop all day! Hooray! The price on Amazon is competitive (because of the free shipping and no sales tax) with Target and Wal-Mart. The "tub" containers (23.2 oz) have a slot in the lid in which the scoop secures, which is a nice feature. In the canister containers, you have to punch out the scoop from within the formula.

Good digestion....

Sept. 9, 2012

I started feeding the baby with the formula since he was 3 weeks (lack of my own milk) I tried the enfamil, did not stick with it and moved right to Similac (the blue one) since I got it from the friend, the baby did not have the stool for like 4 days and he was very uncomfortable, also he was spitting too much, tried Similac orange (the sensitive) still no poop.So I added some water and the same time changed to Gerber. Poop came no more then 2 days later w/o any help and he stayed regular- every day almost the same time. The formula has no added sugar like Similac sensitive and I feel like I give him good nutritions and he is definitly gaining weight. I recommend at least to try if you struggle finding the right formula. I believe since the proteins are more broken down (hydrolized) he is digesting it better.

My son was moved to formula after being BF for 10 days- gerber good start gentle was what he was put on the hospital and it has been a godsend ever since!! :)He is a little over a month old now and has not had any isses with this formula...once we mastered the art of burping him between and during each feed, gassiness is not an issue. Constipation also has not been a problem luckily, and I'm considering trying out the probiotics preparation too. With the subscribe and save option, this has been working out great!!!

Best Formula for my LO

Nov. 18, 2011

We originally started with Enfamil newborn and my LO was very fussy and crying for hours on end. I tried Similac Alimentum, but he didn't like the taste and it mixed horribly. I needed an 'in between' formula. Good start was recommended by our doctor and it's perfect! Not hard on his tummy and easier on your wallet than alimentum. Tastes and smells better too! I use the powder formula for daycare and home- and it mixes well and there are limited bubbles. I used the tetra packs for for travel. THEY ARE AMAZING! I don't have to worry about spoiling milk, mixing, or warming bottles.

Smells vanilla-ish ... that's enough to get 5 stars

Oct. 11, 2012

I am not sure if other parents ever tried or tasted their babies' formulas ... but I did with mine. I had tried several brands due to my daughter's gassiness. Similac Sensitive worked very well actually, but the reason I switched to Gerber Good Start Gentle was purely for the taste factor since I knew that this Gerber gentle formula is made for babies with gas, fussiness and digestive issues. Other formulas had a kind of raw, ironish, rotten fish smell ... but Gerber Good Start Gentle has a kind of almost sweet Vanilla smell to its formula. The smell didn't make me gag, so that's a winner as I cannot bear for my LO drinking anything nasty. She's now happily enjoying this formula, and having none of the gas issues. And after reading up that this formula has 100% whey protein in it, it makes my decision even wiser. This is a truly a win-win-win situation. Happy tummy, happy baby, happy mommy.

clumpy

July 25, 2013

My six month likes it just fine but it's VERY clumpy! He usually has Similac Advance but I had a coupon. I don't think I'll use it again unfortunatly. It doesn't matter how much you shake, stir and warm. Half of the formula would turn to a chewing gum consitancy and just never desolve.

Appreciate lack of corn syrup

June 25, 2013

My son has mostly nursed, but we were on a trip as he turned 9 months where he would stay with relatives for a few days and I needed back up. My research led me to this formula. I was at the store, looking at formula, and was shocked to find that most of them had corn-syrup solids as the FIRST ingredient. This one was an affordable exception to the rule. It also seemed to be easy on my son's stomach. He sucked it all down and had no unusual gas or diapers. That was a relief! Now he's back to full-time nursing, but I am glad to have this formula as a backup if we need it.

Life Saver!

Oct. 17, 2012

I was trying to supplement with formula because my baby was not gaining weight. Unfortunately he rejected the bottle/formula for 3 months even though I tried many different brands. Other brands I tried would make him gag at the taste and I felt so bad giving it to him. I saw good reviews for Gerber Good Start even though there weren't as many reviews, but I went for it because there wasn't much to lose. Not only did he take the bottle, he took the formula! I was SO relieved! I don't know if it was just coincidence that he was ready to take the bottle, but either way Gerber Good Start saved me! He is not gaining weight and looks forward to his bottles. Amazing!

Great formula for acid reflux

Oct. 23, 2011

My son had awful acid reflux. He just couldn't keep anything down. Some friends recommended good start since it is already pre-broken down protein. It has made a huge difference. He still spits up quite a bit, but it's nothing like it was. We have used the regular and soy kinds. Both seem to work the same, only difference is soy is a bit smellier than the regular.

Gerber Good Start Gentle

April 5, 2013

Overall I really like this formula. I had never used formula with my first child but my second child I ended up having to use formula and this one from what I was told is one of the only ones on the market that has the same proteins found in breast milk (I haven't found any other, actually). This has been very gentle on my 4mo. old sons tummy and we have had no gas issues whatsoever. He seems to enjoy the taste and it mixes easily when shaken in a bottle. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is b/c of it being pricier than many others but I have found it on sale from time to time and stock up. I would recommend this to anyone asking.

Nov. 4, 2013

I love this formula! It was the only formula that didn't stop up my first child. And no corn bi-products or sugar, hurray!! It is by far the best formula flavor of all of the formulas I have tried. It mixes well with very little clumps or foaming.Unfortunately my second baby can't tolerate the formula, she gets very gassy and uncomfortable. I guess it's different for everyone. She's now on a corn based formula, ugh, but it works. I am very sad that we can not use this formula again!

This formula saved us!

Oct. 4, 2012

My Little One loves Gerber Good Start Gentle. I was unable to breast feed when he was born so we had to go with formula. We started with Similac on the advice of the hospital. Within a week we knew something was up. He would scream and scream all day. We switched to Similac Sensitive (that's what his lactose intolerant cousin was on) thinking lactose intolerance and it only got worse. By 4 weeks old we were told he had colic. I said BS!My husband did some research and found Gerber Gentle. We switched our little one cold turkey at 1 month old and the next day we received his first smiles. It turns out our son has a casein intolerance, confirmed by his pediatrician, and Gerber Gentle is the only one with whey protein ONLY (that isn't soy, most formulas have whey and casein to make up their milk proteins, which is normal). And the added benefit? No corn syrup. We started with Ready to Feed formula until he was 4 months old due to his sensitive tummy. We now use powder and I love it as Gerber doesn't clump too much and it doesn't create a lot of extra bubbles when mixing it up like the Similac did.To each their own, but we love Gerber!

Eh baby formula is baby formula

Sept. 22, 2013

Maybe I got lucky with a baby that isn't picky, but formula is formula to her. There isn't anything wrong with this formula other than the price they are asking for it. I saw no difference between this and the store brand formula (in results or actual listed ingredients). Assuming your child doesn't have an allergy problem or other health issue, go to your nearest grocery store or Costco and buy their brand. Chances are it's manufactured by the same guys that make this stuff. You can even find the Costco Kirkland brand here on Amazon. I would go with that instead.Again, nothing wrong with the Gerber brand, but powdered lactose is powdered lactose.

OVERPRICED

May 17, 2011

This new "Packaging" is more expensive than the last plus it's smaller - 23.2 oz vs. the 25 in the old packaging. Granted it's nice not having to fish around for the scooper, but there's no reason to increase pricing on this. Target had the 25 oz for $19.99 at one point (maybe try to clear old packaging for new) - now it's at $21.05 still cheaper than what I've seen online - even for amazon- so far...

Warning: May contain genetically engineered ingredients:

April 28, 2013

Warning: May contain genetically engineered ingredients: These are the worst products, ever, that you can feed an infant. None of these ingredients are organic, they have GMO soy, GMO corn, milk products from cows fed GMO corn and soy, most likely genetically engineered ingredients. Who knows how it effects the infants genetics? If so they contain BT toxin a known pesticide that causes insects stomachs to explode, thereby causing gut leakage in humans especially infants. Auto-immune disorders come next, like allergies and worse. How dare you push this to unsuspecting parents and their children? How can you sleep at night? Stop sending this crap to my email!!! I only purchased organic formula for the victims of the storm in New York. I would never give this poison to anybody.Give them all 0 stars for me. Sincerely, Alonna Farrar

Breastfeed your baby!

Oct. 26, 2013

Please try to breast feed or consider donor milk. This stuff is crap and not safe to give to a newborn baby. No organic ingredients and not a good choice. Breast is best. It is not fair to your baby to not try to give them the best start in life. Formula is a terrible choice. Plus milk sharing is free :)
